MFD has been in the making for this past year. After years of playing in cover bands since my 16th year on the planet, as well as becoming the bassist for Spiketribe, a musical collaboration in a 3 piece heavy originals power trio which to this day I miss playing in. My life took a turn and music was put on hold in 2002.
Fast forward to 2015.
After selling all my gear and bass guitars, the itch to create and write music was back. I had been writing lyrics in many volumes of notebooks and composition books ...some with the music in mind ..some just solid stories awaiting a melody to be realized and created.
I was ready to finally begin working on a new project. After being unable to find a group of musicians to work with, I decided I would just do it all on my own...but where to go to do this project...to create these songs I had been dreaming up?
Enter one local up and coming rap artist named Matty Shinez...
In a conversation with Matty Shinez, I had asked where he was recording his amazing sounding tracks at, and he shared the contact info for Dustin at dB Studios, I called Dustin and made an appointment to drop by to check this place out. When I arrived at this seemingly unsuspect warehouse building I was not sure what to expect. Then ... I walked inside for my tour of the studio. To say i was impressed, as well as inspired would be an understatement. The vibe of this place and the equipment to work with was amazing!
I later let Dustin know I would be in touch to come in to start recording what was then just affectionately called song 1. This project began back at the end of 2018 and the goal is to complete it by 2020. I am on track for my plan to release the demo EP as 2020 approaches. It has been a year and a labor of love and passion for the music.
I find inspiration all around. I try to make my music representative of a common thread of experiences to relate to no matter what generation. I love the places and inspirational moments that most people don't give a second glance at. These are the moments that most inspire me to create music and lyrics. I hope this upcoming year will be a wild ride as I push to do something with these songs I have crafted.
My late father (I miss him so much) said to me once ...
"YOU WILL ALWAYS MISS 100% OF THE SHOTS THAT YOU DON'T TAKE. " That being said I will give it my all, whether I succeed or fail. I don't want to leave this planet wishing I would have tried to do something with my music. 2020 is the perfect year to launch with a clear vision into a new decade. It is time to get this dream moving!
Hope you all like what I have been creating when I drop the EP. Love and live your passions.
Best regards,
Spencer Marks
